Introduction and Goal
Let me first say that I really never expected to be working on Home Alone, it is one of my all time favorite movies, but bever thought I would get as chance to work on it, then came the call. I was assigned to work on the box art, home video release, and streaming products for the 25th anniversary of this film. Fox sent us all the existing assets that they had, and they definitely looked dated. The assets needed a lot of love and attention in order to get them looking presentable. The ultimate goal was to update the key art with a slight Christmas theming and a 25th Anniversary sticker for the front of the box.
Process and Experience
I had a blast going through all the old photography, it really captured a period in time, I did not have a blast trying to bring it all back to life. It took a lot of tweaking and retouching to get all the characters looking good. We did a few more options that leaned into New York theming but ultimately the client landed on keeping the Christmas theme.
Outcome
This art is still being used today on DVD's, Blu-Ray's, and multiple streaming services. It was ultimately a very successful update that seems to still have a lot of life left in it. It brings me joy to see it whenever I scroll past it.
