Introduction and Goal
re:uniting was the first feature film of a really great friend of mine Laura Adkin. I had done some posters for her shorts but I was honored to be asked to create the key art for her first feature film. She really wanted me to capture the emotional tone of the film. To me the heart of the film was a scene at the end (the chairs) and all of the moments with the friends, which led to the poster showcasing those two themes, they actually blend together quite nicely.
Process and Experience
For this film I had to work from really early footage, before it was color graded or anything like that, it was very raw, so I needed to come up with a color palette that matched the design brief we discussed above. I landed on something soft and pastel toned that actually matched a lot of the coloring of the final film. I had a great time working on this and it was great to see this piece of work travel to many international film festivals!
Outcome
The film eventually received international distribution, went to many film festivals, won many awards, and also received VOD and physical releases (which I was also able to design for).
